In order to plan your activities in Germany, here is the official list of public holidays 2025 in Germany.

Germany is a Federal Republic and for this reason certain public holidays are only covered in certain States or so called Länder. Public holidays coincide with the closing of banks and school holidays. The closure of the German stock exchanges may vary. Dates marked in italics are local public holidays or may in many companies be partially off work.

  • 1 January “New Year’s Day” (Wednesday, public holiday everywhere in Germany)
  • 6 January “Epiphany” (Monday, public holiday in Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria and Saxony-Anhalt)

February

  • 3 March “Rosenmontag” (Monday, public holiday regionally and according to the Rhine cities in particular, inquire) in all 3 days of Carnival from Monday to Wednesday
  • 8 March “International Women’s Day” (Saturday, public holiday in Berlin)

  • 25 December “Christmas Day” (Thursday, public holiday everywhere in Germany)
  • 26 December “St. Stephen’s Day” (Friday, public holiday everywhere in Germany)
